President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited the South American country of Bolivia from June 13 – 17, 2014. First he arrived in Santa Cruz de la Sierra to attend the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Group of 77 and China (G77+China). On the sidelines of the Summit, President Rajapaksa held bilateral discussions with several heads of state including Prime Minister of Gabon Daniel Ona Ondo, President of Uruguay José Mujica, President of Equatorial Guinea Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and Cuban President Raul Castro.
The President then traveled to La Paz for bilateral talks with Bolivian President Evo Morales after which the President also spoke at the Legislative Assembly. There, the Government of Bolivia presented President Rajapaksa with its highest honor – the Parliamentary Order Merit Democratic Rep. Marcelo Quiroga Santa Cruza.
